The Bangor School Department accepts applications for educational tutor positions continuously throughout the school year. Proof of Educational Technician III authorization or teacher certification and CHRC approval through the Department of Education is required for this position. Tutors are employed as temporary part-time employees with the district. Assignments are flexible and may be during or after the school day. To obtain Department of Education credentials visit https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert.
Tutors are needed in the areas of Multilingual Learners, special education, science, and mathematics. Tutoring services occur within a variety of settings including the regular education setting, special education setting, in a student’s home, or in a public setting such as the library.
Duties include:
working one-on-one or with a small group of students,
implementing instruction in a variety of subject areas with materials provided and organized by the classroom teacher,
communicating with teachers regarding student progress and providing weekly student updates.

Our custodial staff are often among the first to arrive and the last to leave, but their impact reaches far beyond maintaining our buildings. They build relationships with students, lend a helping hand when needed, and bring joy to our school communities in countless ways. Whether they're joining in on spirit weeks, participating in theme days, or stepping into a mascot costume to make students smile, they help create the positive and caring school culture that makes Bangor schools special.

Cyr Bus is looking for transportation specialists and school bus drivers or those who are interested in becoming one! School bus drivers have school vacations, school holidays, and summer vacations off, (with unemployment benefits). You are home nights and weekends. We will train you for free.

For before school programming, students may take the Walking Bus or be dropped off by a parent/guardian.

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you and your family are having a wonderful summer and finding time to relax, have fun, and make lasting memories together.
As we get ready to welcome students back, I want to thank you for everything you did to make last year such a success. The growth we saw in our students—academically, socially, and emotionally—was possible because of the strong partnership between our staff, our families, and our students. I am so proud of our school community and the way we continue to support one another.
It is truly a privilege to serve as principal of Abraham Lincoln School. I remain committed to making sure every child feels safe, supported, and challenged each day. Together, we will continue to support the Bangor School Department's mission of Pathways to Excellence by creating a welcoming environment where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
Our teachers and staff are excited to welcome students back and have been busy preparing classrooms filled with engaging learning experiences. We know that when schools and families work together, children thrive. Thank you for the trust you place in us each day—we value your partnership and look forward to another wonderful year together.
We have a couple of special events to help kick off the school year:
Kickoff to Kindergarten will be held on Monday, August 24, at 4:00 p.m. event is for our incoming kindergarten students and their families. It's a great opportunity to meet our kindergarten team, become familiar with the school, and help our newest students feel comfortable and excited for their first day.
Our annual Open House for all students and families will be held on Thursday, August 27, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Families will have the opportunity to meet teachers, visit classrooms, reconnect with friends, and get ready for a successful start to the school year.
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back. We are looking forward to another year filled with learning, growth, new friendships, and memorable experiences.
Over the next few weeks, you'll receive a welcome letter from your child's teacher with additional information to help your family prepare for the first day of school.
