Message from Principal Shaw

March 4,2024

Dear Abraham Lincoln Families,

Friday, March 15, 2024, is now a remote learning day.

This letter is to inform you that Friday, March 15, 2024, which was slated to be a Teacher ln-Service Day, will now be a remote learning day for Abraham Lincoln School students. School was canceled on February 13 due to a water main break. This was an unexpected cancellation. Our school is required by the State of Maine Department of Education to make up the  canceled day.

The Plan:

  • Students will bring home a paper work packet early next week that they will complete and use to guide at home learning on the remote learning day on March 15. This will give families an opportunity to review the packet and clarify expectations with the teacher.

  • Teachers will be available by email during the remote learning day to answer any clarifying questions. Teachers will check their emails at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 2:00 pm and respond that day.

  • We have already begun to make up any missed services, like OT or PT, for students. lf your child missed a special, such as music or library, that will be made up. Additionally, if your child receives special education or ML instruction, it will be included in the packet.

Lunch:
A bagged lunch will be provided at the Abraham Lincoln School for Abraham Lincoln students on Friday, March 15 for students from  1 1:30 am - 12:30 pm. You may stop by the school during the lunch hour to pick up your child's lunch. To help prepare enough lunches, please call the school office at (207) 941-6280 prior to March 15 if you plan to pick up a lunch on the remote learning day.

I appreciate your partnership as we want to ensure a quality educational experience for your student. Please reach out to your child's teacher or to me if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you.

Best,

Shannon Shaw, Principal
