The Abraham Lincoln School staff is privileged to work with compassionate, motivated, and hard working students on a daily basis. We would be remiss if we did not thank all of you for instilling these qualities, and many like them, in your children. The modeling that you provide for them is commendable and noticed.
We are fortunate to have wonderful people involved in our community and school system. The support for education in Bangor is unmatched and the greatest gift we can give our children. As you know, three of my foundational priorities for the Abraham Lincoln School are that students will be safe, fed, and warm. These priorities allow our students to learn and grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
The Abraham Lincoln School PTO has always donated winter clothing items to any of our children in need. Over the years, several individuals have donated a variety of items to our school. We have received monetary donations, books, clothing, hats, mittens, and gift cards to help families who may have fallen upon difficult times. I have seen these acts of generosity passed on to our youngest community members as they have donated as well!!
We wanted to take a moment to share that we have received a generous donation in order to support our children with hot lunch. An anonymous donor has provided funds to help support families in buying hot lunch during difficult economic times. This donor shared that the Abraham Lincoln School has been an important part of their family experiences for several years and they wanted to give back to the school. Although they asked to remain anonymous, our children will not see, but feel their generosity for years to come. This lunch fund will be a permanent account whereby families and groups may donate funds so there is an on-going balance to help families in need. This generous family hopes to make an annual donation. If you are interested in adding to the account now or in the future, please contact me.
The example above is just one of countless efforts by many people to support all of the children in our city. Bangor is about providing all children the opportunity to succeed and achieve their dreams. We are extremely proud to share that the Abraham Lincoln School ranked 2nd in the State of Maine in English Language Arts and 5th in math on the MEA state assessment. As the principal of this wonderful school, I believe this success is attributed to the tremendous students, teachers, and families in this community that we are lucky enough to call home.
We would also like to welcome Mrs. Jerome back to the Abraham Lincoln School as our new secretary. Thank you again for all that you do and we wish you a happy and safe holiday season!
