Dear Abraham Lincoln Families:
The 2017-2018 school year was outstanding! Students thrived, teachers and staff worked hard to provide a high quality education, and families were engaged in student learning. I wanted to take a moment to say hello and introduce myself to the new families of the Abraham Lincoln School. My name is John Tennett and this is my seventh year as the principal of the Abraham Lincoln School. I have grown up in this community and feel fortunate to be able to raise my three children in the great city of Bangor. This community has always maintained a strong commitment to its children and has valued education. I cannot overstate how invested I am in ensuring that every child in the Bangor School System meets the school department’s mission of academic excellence for all students.
I am extremely excited to be the principal of such an outstanding school community. This school community has the reputation of caring parents, hard working students, and a dedicated staff. I, as well as the entire Abraham Lincoln staff, will work tirelessly to provide the best education possible. Effective communication, positive school climate, and hard work will help to enhance the academic environment at the Abraham Lincoln School. I am confident that by working together we can create a successful educational experience for all children.
I want to thank all Kindergarten and first grade families for their patience and understanding with the delay in classroom placements. As you can imagine, fluctuation and mobility rates with student enrollments throughout the summer can present some challenges in placement. Kindergarten will consist of two classrooms this year and grade 1 will consist of three classrooms. I am excited to share that Mrs. Pelkey will be taking her talents to first grade for this upcoming school year!
The Abraham Lincoln School staff is looking forward to a great school year. We would like to invite all of our families to an Open House on Wednesday, August 29 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This open house will be a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and for the students to see their classrooms. I am looking forward to meeting and working with each of you. The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Enjoy the rest of the summer with your families and friends. We are looking forward to a tremendous school year!
John Tennett, Principal
